Debuting with Hudson River Opera, Karmesha Peake will sing the role of Marthe in Gounoud’s Faust.

Composed in the early 1850s by Charles Gounod to a libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré, Faust is based on Carré’s play Faust et Marguerite, in turn based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s Faust. It is the story of a man near his end who, for one more taste of youth and love, deals with the devil himself. The accorded gifts of romance and passion play out until inevitably the price must be paid.
